Thanks for sharing that. I’m so sorry for your loss. I think part of what makes travel feel so expansive is the way we share it—with the people we love, with strangers who become part of our stories, even with the future versions of ourselves who will one day look back. And when someone is missing from that equation, the vastness of the world can feel more like an emptiness.

But I also believe that noticing—really noticing—can be its own kind of companionship. The way light moves across an unfamiliar street, the way the air smells just before rain, the way a stranger smiles at you in a place where no one knows your name. I hope, whenever you’re ready, you find moments of joy in that noticing. And, though it’s easier said than done, I hope you know that even in solitude, you are not alone.
